Message Board Review
« on: October 07, 2008, 10:40:55 am »

On behalf of the Cardiomyopathy Association Board of Trustees we are carrying out a review of the Message Board. This has been prompted by some concerns which have arisen from some previous posts and apparant additional communication outside the board.

If you would like to assist in this review by highlighting your experiences of using the board, along with what you view as the positive aspects of the service and any concerns you may have, please contact me via the personal message option or info@cardiomyopathy.org

Thank you.

It has been brought to my attention that there are rumours circulating that the review of the message board is aimed at closing the board. I am posting this to reassure you that this is not the intention. The Trustees at their last meeting asked me to conduct a review aimed at ensuring the board exists as a helpful, supportive and safe environment for users.  At no time in that meeting was there any discussion about closing the board. So to ensure this review is as comprehensive as possible I have invited you, as users of the board, to make your contribution. This can include your opinion of the board and where you may have had a positive or negative experience in your use of the board.

As a national UK charity the Cardiomyopathy Association exists to provide information and support to people like yourselves, affected by cardiomyopathy. This message board is one of numerous services we provide in line with those aims. We invest considerable resources, both time and funds, to ensure the continuation of this board. It is essential that posts are consistent with the aims of the board and/or posts do not contribute to damaging the hard won reputation of the CMA. This is where all board users have a responsibility to ensure these situations do not arise.

I hope this has clarified the situation and reassured you that the CMA remains committed to the message board. We know how much it is valued by users and the helpful messages I have received in the past 24 hours confirm this. Please keep your contributions to the review coming.

The review we carried out towards the end of last year prompted many people to send their views about the message board. The overwhelming message was how much the board was valued by users. It was apparant, for some, it was seen as a 'lifeline' and provided a wealth of support and reassurance. As a result of the review we will not be making major changes to the board. There will be some smaller changes, such as 'CMA' will no longer be available to incorpaorate in a members username, the positioning of the board to the main CMA website, (and the wealth of information that is on there), will be adjusted, and moderation arrangements will be changed. The board will continue and I will keep you informed of any changes to be introduced.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to send me their views. Thank you also for making the message board such an important resource for people affected by cardiomyopathy.
